NJPSA Awards & Programs for Students
Student Leadership Scholarships
NJPSA is providing
twenty five student leadership scholarships. The twenty five
(25) $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors
for their demonstrated leadership in school activities. Students will be selected from
each of the three regions of our state, north, central and south, in accordance with the following:
- Eligibility
- Eligibility is limited to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership for participation in co-curricular activities other than athletics.
- Application Process
- Each applicant is to submit a one page essay on the topic "The Importance of Student Involvement in School Activities". The applicant must also provide a resume indicating leadership positions they have held and their contributions to their school while in these positions. In addition, two letters of recommendation are to be submitted, one each from the principal and an activities advisor. Download the 2010-2011 application.
- School’s Role
- Each high school is asked to screen their applicants and forward the name of their nominee (only 1 student application can be submitted from a school) along with the information requested above to Charles Stein or his secretary Stacy Barksdale-Jones at NJPSA by April 29, 2011.
- Selection Process
- The Student Activities Committee of NJPSA will screen all applications and notify the recipients schools of their selection in May.
NJPSA Student Activities Association
The Student Activitites Association (NJSAA), which was formed under the auspices of NJPSA, is dedicated to training student activities advisors and student leaders. Workshops for advisors and students are offered throughout the school year.
